Mid Term Blog Recap

As I reflect back upon my blog postings up to this point in the semester I can see where my focus usually lies when it is my turn to write. Generally I have taken a certain character from a play and zeroed in on who exactly they are and what there motives are, such as Iago or Signior Benedick. Also, when I did my extra credit posting I mostly looked at the character of Feste, who stood out amongst the other players. Other than my post on A Midsummer Night's Dream I would say that my concerns mostly are with the motives of certain characters and the reasons for why they do exactly what they choose to do. I believe that if we can take a close look at them then we may be able to unlock some of the more subtle tones of certain plays that we may otherwise overlook.
I would definitely say that since the beginning of the semester my postings have become better, or at least I believe so. With the first post I really was not that sure on what was fully expected from a blog posting, as I have never done anything of the sort before. I think that it is a good exercise though, for it allows us to take a look at a play and find something interesting which we can talk and deliberate about, where as normally one may just overlook the details without going into any examination.
As I read over my old posts I am actually happy with all of them for the most part. I thought the idea of the love triangle from A Midsummer Night's Dream was an aspect which deserved much attention and I really believe the idea of possession in the context of love needs to be addressed with the play. My posting on Signior Benedick from Much Ado About Nothing I feel is also a good look into who exactly he is. If I was to do anything different with that post I would add more; go back through the play and find other passages which would fortify my points about him, but I believe my points on him came across if one read it. The posting on Iago from Othello was my favorite post, or at least I found it to be the most interesting while writing. I still cannot understand who exactly Iago is, how one could do that to so many around him who trust and seem to care for. How he can just turn on his friends (and wife!) like that is ridiculous, but without him the play would not be what it is, arguably Shakespeare's best tragedy.
I have to say before this class I didn't have the best view of blogging, but now that I have done a few postings myself I see how it can be interesting. As long as one puts effort into their post and has an idea of what they want to express I think it is a good outlet for people to get their ideas across. In saying so, I hope I don't run out of ideas for my posts to come.
