Blog Reflection

Looking back at my past three blogs, I have realized I analyzed one of the main characters from each play. I usually write about the main characters because they have the most impact on the different events happening throughout the play. In my first blog, I analyzed Shylock's behavior in The Merchant of Venice. I viewed Shylock as both a victim and a villain by analyzing his behaviors in different scenes. Looking back, I think I used many examples and supported my thesis clearly. Looking at my blog on the Duke in Measure for Measure, I think I could've used a few more examples about why I thought the Duke was a manipulator and a cruel man. This was my favorite play we read thus far, and I had written a better response with more supporting details than my first blog. My blog for Richard II was one of my shorter responses, and I realized I did not use many examples. I did not enjoy this play as well as I enjoyed the other two. From reading these last few plays, I’ve realized I enjoy reading about villains and manipulators. I have never read Shakespeare before this semester, and I was intimidated coming into this class. I like to read other blog posts before I write mine to generate ideas, which has also helped me a great amount. These blog posts have helped me understand the plays and made me enjoy reading them.
