Twelfth Night
I was very impressed with the performance of Twelfth Night put on by our theatre department. I personally liked the duo of Sir Toby and Sir Andrew they were very amusing and fit the roles very well. They played off of each other very well and instantly made the audience laugh whenever they were on stage. When reading the play I wasn’t very fond of their characters, at points during the reading I found them annoying but seeing them on stage completely changed my mind. I did not picture Sir Andrew to be wearing purple and have long curly hair, but it fit the role perfectly. When he first stepped on stage I was a little shocked because he was dressed head to toe in purple. The scene where they set Malvolio up with the letter was my favorite scene. I think it was just because Sir Toby and Sir Andrew were a riot together and they way in which all three of them were hiding behind the pillars. Their commentary from the side very entertaining and not what I expected. We saw this scene in class and it was interesting to compare and contrast the two. Also to be mindful one was a movie and one a play, but it’s interesting to see the differences in just reading the text, seeing it in a movie and seeing it live. Overall I enjoyed the performance.
