Reminiscing on previous posts...

Previous classes I have taken have chosen a specific subject to blog on at a couple points during the semester, but I have never had to do a weekly post about readings. I must say that I find it quite enjoyable. It is the most insight I have ever gotten out of a reading and really brings a whole world of possibilities into the text itself.

It really gives a great opportunity to people who don't like to talk in class, me being one of them, to express what they really think. I think that sometimes the best insights are the ones that aren't said out loud. Both of my posts are ideas I wouldn't want to necessarily voice in class because of my unreasonable paranoia that I'm always wrong no matter what. The thing that I most enjoyed about the blog posts were the responses I got. They reassured me on my ideas, especially about "Measure for Measure" when I basically called Isabella the spawn of satan, and showed me that maybe I'm not insane in my style of thinking.

I also really enjoyed reading other class members' posts and trying to tie everything in, and even drawing ideas of my own from their posts. It has served as a sort of brain booster, I suppose you could call it, and acts as a kind of cyber brainstorm without the (in my opinion) immediate, nerve-racking responses I anticipate getting if I would say something in class. It's sort of like a big, Willie Shakes fan club.

It definitely allows me to get a lot more in depth into the reading and to pose interesting questions about characters and setting that we maybe don't have time to discuss in the hour and fifteen minutes we are confined to in class. Overall, I see it as beneficial, and I really enjoy being able to connect with all my classmates on Shakespeare.
